About My Business

​I started selling my art senior year of high-school in 2023. However, I didn't start my business seriously until summer of 2024. My first market was a local Applefest in September of 2024 at the age of 19. Since then I have been fighting and pushing to keep my business going while juggling college and a job. Eventually I dropped out of college as my mental health was rapidly deteriorating. I knew something had to give and I couldn't let it to be my dream.

I chose the name ElysianCottageCrafts for a few reasons, one of which is pretty silly. My favorite game growing up was Dust: An Elysian Tail. I wanted to incorporate my love for gaming into my business somehow, so I decided to include the word "elysian". Originally my business was V.G.ElysianStudio because I hadn't settled on a vibe or what exactly I would be making. I've always enjoyed doing basically anything and everything creative so it was really difficult for me to pick one thing to focus on. I moved away from this name after a year ish of using it because it didn't feel memorable or give a vibe. I stumbled upon the word "elysian" meaning, "blissful, delightful, or characteristic of paradise", while scrolling on TikTok. I combined it with "cottage" because I wanted to have a cozy, cottage vibe for my business. I added on "crafts" to the end mostly because ElysianCottage was already taken, but also to show what I do right in my business name.
